Spirit Builders had the pleasure of building an access ramp for our friend and neighbor Irene Pearce. Follow our progress…
Thursday, March 3
In spite the bone chilling temperatures today, Bruce, Dan, George, Peter and Christian were able to put the finishing touches on the ramp. Irene can now comfortably and safely enter and leave her home without having to navigate stairs.
Thursday, February 24
Today’s crew included George, Bruce, Danny, Christian and Peter. Additional railings were installed and the final portion of the ramp was given a gradual slope so it integrated with the drive. Irene made coffee to help keep away the chill.
Thursday, February 17
The Thursday Spirit Builders work crew got to work early to continue work on Irene’s ramp. By the time Irene returned home from an appointment in the late afternoon preliminary railings had been installed and the ramp was functional. She was thrilled and gave the ramp a test drive.
Sunday, February 6th
An enthusiastic and hardworking crew (Stephen Meyerowitz and son Joshua, Steve Silvesteri, John Ousey, Katherine Leavitt, Bill Owens, Bill Pfohl, Bob Stauffer, Scott Andrew, Peter and Carole Stathis) arrived after church and was guided by Bruce Kohl and John Ward. Only cold hands and darkening skies deterred us from working longer… and perhaps the Super Bowl.
Irene had a great time peeking out to watch the progress. She now has a functional staircase and one railing with which she can manage until our return, scheduled for Thursday, February 17.
Friday, February 4th
Peter, George and Danny cleared snow from the front of Irene’s home on Thursday in order to make room for the ramp. Friday, the team (George, Danny, John, Peter and Bruce) received and sorted the lumber and began cutting potions for ramp panels.
